Chinese New Year

The last three weeks have been the longest ever especially this past week.   Everything in China was shut down for Chinese New Year.   We have been waiting for our second to the last step of our incredibly long journey and it was only supposed to take two weeks, but because of CNY it will take a little over three weeks.   We are hoping for lots of exciting news in the next few weeks.

Saturday evening we went to a Chinese New Year celebration with Maylin's Ayi and other families who have adopted from or lived in China or Taiwan.   Maylin and the rest of the kids had a wonderful time and the food was FABULOUS!! We met lots of new people and learned more about Chinese culture.   I will post some pictures later.   We forgot to take our camera so I am hoping Maylin's Ayi will share some of her photos with me.

Stay tuned because we do have some exciting news to share very soon :)

Another step down!

Friday, January 6th we received our approval from the NVC (National Visa Center) and then they electronically sent our file to our embassy in China.  Then our agency's representative in Guangzhou hand-delivered our paperwork to the U.S. Embassy.  They will review our application and make sure everything is in order then they issue an Article V letter.  It normally takes exactly two weeks for this step, but because of Martin Luther King Day and Chinese New Year we will be delayed almost a week.  All in God's time though :)  Once we receive this piece of paper we have ONE more step our Travel Approval.  We will then know when we will travel to get Jayden.  WooHoo!!  We are getting so close.

We are in full planning mode with the Silent Auction/Chili Cook-Off.  We have picked a date and a location.  Michelle Sherer has been getting many donations for us and I will be forever grateful for all of her help.  Also a big thanks to all of you who have donated items or are making chili.   I was not sure this was going to be possible, but I shouldn't question God's plan.  He continues to provide every step of the way.

Around 8 weeks to go...

Today I reworked the blog site.  I am still not totally happy with it, but I will get it figured out hopefully before we go to China :)  We are working on another fundraiser idea shooting for the first weekend in February.  I still need to check everyone's schedules (basketball, church, school, etc.) to pick a date.  We are wanting to do a silent auction/dinner so if you know of anyone who has an item or a service they would be willing to donate we would greatly appreciate it.  Please spread the word.  We did not have to ask for help when we adopted Maylin, but this time we do need help which is very hard for me to accept.  This time it is just so much more expensive.  I wish there was a way for adoption to be cheaper or for me to have endless resources.  These kiddos are such blessings to the families they become a part of.
