Just wanted to share a quick update of all the exciting happenings. We have gotten our I800a approval from Department of Homeland approving us to bring a child from China into the United States. We were approved for a medical expedite due to Bao Fuyu needing a heart surgery this summer so from start to finish it took two and a half weeks. From what I have seen, it normally takes 30-60 days so what a blessing that was! Our officer emailed us the approval on March 5th and it was in the mail the very next day. That afternoon, the 6th, Richard and I went to the bank and had our three documents notarized. Thursday, Richard took the same three documents to the Secretary of State's office to have them certified and that afternoon we sent them via Fedex to the courier that would walk them into the Chinese Consulate to have them authenticated. We paid for 2-day delivery, but she got the documents in less than 24 hours. We should have the three documents back from the Chinese Consult Tuesday or Wednesday of next week at which time all of our paperwork will be overnighted to our China coordinator to be reviewed. If everything is in order, she will send it to the CCCWA (The China Center for Children's Welfare and Adoption).
God's Hand has definitely been in this process as he has been with our other adoptions. We needed to have our paperwork to China before Seth's one year anniversary of his adoption which is April 11th and we should have no problems meeting that deadline. He has also been with our paperwork process as it has been moving along so fast.
We have been fundraising by sponsoring a drawing for a Kindle or iPod. We have received money from total strangers who just have a desire to help an orphan find their family. We also got a check in the mail this week from a family friend. Oh, what a blessing that was!!! To enter go here. We know that God has called us to adopt Bao Fuyu which we knew was not going to be an easy task. We adopted Seth and Jayden last year and that cost $33,000 and depleted every bit of savings we had. We could have never done it without wonderful people who helped us. We knew when we submitted paperwork that this was going to be a true test of faith, but I think any adoptive family will tell you...it always is :)
We have about ten days to raise $2000 to pay our agency to send our dossier (paperwork) to China. We have to wire $700 to China and then the agency needs $2800 so a total of $3500. Richard and I both have been working as much as we can and have about $1800. My new motto is "God has got this" and we know he does.
I will leave you with more new photos that we got today and please keep us all in your prayers. It has been a rough week full of many trials, but I will praise my God in the storm!
